The Humans

We are Lacey and Nick. While most people are at a party talking to the guests, we’re the ones in the corner winning over the dog.

I handle the camera and the creative direction, while Nick—a Cloud Engineer by day—is the resident animal whisperer. He has this magic connection where animals are just naturally drawn to him, and that energy is a huge part of how we’re able to work with so many different personalities. We’ve spent our lives around everything from snakes and lizards to horses and hounds, and that collective experience is what makes Licked! work.

The Mission

Our heart belongs to the overlooked. Through our Take 2! initiative, we provide professional portraiture for long-term shelter residents and seniors who need a little extra help being seen. Whether it's through fundraisers or dedicated adoption sessions, we believe a great photo is often the bridge between a kennel and a couch.

Our history with animals goes far beyond this gallery. We’ve shared our lives with snakes, lizards, rabbits, ferrets, horses, and hamsters. Every single one of them—the ones in the photos and the ones who came before—has shaped our understanding of what it means to be an animal lover and a photographer. We wouldn't be us without all of them.
